Doing ceramic work is not so easy as it may look.
For me, it is like walking the high wire. Balancing a piece as the final touches are applied, I’m aware that the whole thing I’ve spent considerable time on can fall in a fraction of a second. At those times I’m reminded of the 15th Century Haiku:

Life is full of dangers for everyone--
especially the tight rope walker.
But to the tight rope walker’s foot,
the rope is home.
